CAROUSEL
|
|
|
Penny Walshe (Julie) has been performing
with local groups for the last few years, with favourite roles including
Mabel (Pirates of Penzance), Polly (Crazy for You),
Marsinah (Kismet) and Marta (Company). As well as Carousel,
Penny has been rehearsing for Fiddler on the Roof with DAODS
playing the cameo role of mad, shrieky ghost woman Fruma Sarah. Penny
took on the role of Musical Director for DAODS for the first time
(2006) for their production of A Chorus Line, and will pick
up the baton again in November (2007) for A Slice of Saturday Night. |
|
|
Dave Hughes (Billy) was happy to be
back with TEPOS for their production of Carousel,
which was his first show with TEPOS. Dave was very happy to
play the part of Billy Bigelow, a role he has wanted to play for 11
years. Dave has become an active member of both the Bob Hope Theatre
and DAODS.
He also takes on the role of Stage Manager with other societies. |
|
|
Suzanne Dean (Carrie)
has performed in shows and concerts for TEPOS and Hulviz
Operatics Society since 2001. Her roles to date include
Milli (Summer Song), Rose (Meet Me in St Louis), Chava
(Fiddler
on the Roof) and, her personal favourite, Sally,
the cockney sparra in Me
and My Girl. Suzanne enjoyed rehearsing for Carousel
and was delighted to be playing the role of Carrie. She thinks she's
in pretty good shape for someone who has nine children. |
|
|
Christopher Betterton (Mr
Snow) joined TEPOS in 1995 for the production of Carousel
the following year, in which he was given the non-singing role of
the Heavenly Friend. Not being the sort of person to take the hint,
he has subsequently managed to grab the roles of Freddy (My
Fair Lady), Prez (The
Pajama Game), Strephon (Iolanthe)
and Gerald (Me
and My Girl). Playing against type once again,
he has had to dig deep to find the character of the oh so pompous
Mr Snow... |
|
|
Sharon Filmer (Mrs Mullin)
began performing at the age of three, as a child dancer and more recently
she has exercised her skills of choreography in many local societies,
with Thoroughly Modern Millie, her latest success in November
2006. For Carousel, Sharon has hung up her tap shoes to take on the
acting role of Mrs Mullin. |
|
|
Sue Wootton (Nettie) is
in her 28th show with TEPOS, having previously performed for 10 years
in cabaret. Her principal roles include Nancy (Oliver!), Tzeitel (Fiddler
on the Roof), Ruth (Pirates of Penzance),
Lizzie Stride (Jack the Ripper), Mrs Pearce (My Fair Lady)
and many others. |
|
|
Ian Templeton (Jigger)
has enjoyed various roles over a number of years, and, in his opinion,
has moved too rapidly from youngsters to older character parts. These
have been followed by the downright doddery or dead. The part of Jigger
has given him the opportunity to play a younger real baddie and card
sharp. |
|
|
Joanne Templeton (Louise)
has been dancing since the age of four and appeared in TEPOS' 1995
production of Carousel as one of the youngest snow children.
She is thrilled to have risen up the ranks. Joanne has performed in
a number of productions with local amateur societies and is also a
member of the Bob Hope Theatre. She also has a passion for the technical
side of the theatre and is hoping to study this at university. Joanne
dedicated her performance in Carousel to her late godmother, Jane
Richards. |
